OWWW!!!

So as you know I play ice hockey here in Orlando. I am the goaltender of a local men’s league team and for the most part it’s a lot of fun and good excercise. Playing goalie comes with more risk than most but less than you might think. I am generally the most covered and protected person on the ice except when the other teams are firing a solid frozen rubber object at me as hard as they can. Last night a gap in the armour was found and the puck found its way to my throat with a direct impact. 1 inch above my collar bone and 2 inches to the right of my wind pipe. Tomorrow I will order the $28 piece of lexan that will prevent such an impact. We lost the game which made it hurt more today, but I made the save and they didn’t score after so it didn’t hurt as much at the time.I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t love it so I’ll be back and ready to go this week.

Oh yeah, my mother has come for the weekend. I love her to death and she loves my kids just as much. Grandma Christmas they call her and here’s why. All that said, she can drive me a little nuts as all parents can and should do….especially when you are older. Payback. Hopefully Mrs. Hockeyman will let me use the camera a bit and I’ll have pictures on my blog instead of her’s.
